Engineering Training Manager

Location: Fullwell – TW2 5NX
Salary: £40k – £45k DOE
Employment Status: Full-Time, Permanent

It is a very exciting time for RATP Dev London Engineering, with a new vison and strategy that sets the standards and ensures it is fit for purpose now and in the future. As our engineering training manager you will lead the RATP Dev London engineering training plan including the apprentice programme to ensure it meets current and future needs of the business.

Key responsibilities:
• Develop and manage the engineering competency framework to industry and Company standards
• Produce and implement the annual engineering training programme for staff at all levels encompassing core technical skills and management development
• Design and deliver learner-centered training for engineers including training materials
• Work with the Head of Talent and Resourcing to develop the engineering career path and succession plan
• Work with the Chief Engineer to identify training needs and opportunities for producing training aids and documentation
• Manage the RATP Dev London engineering apprenticeship programme including recruitment, selection, induction, development, allocation to garages. Ensure Continuous Personal Development (CPD) workbooks are up to date and conduct regular reviews of progress
• Act as direct line manager to engineering apprentices including responsibility for performance reviews, academic achievement, conduct and attendance issues
Skills & Experience:
• Solid interpersonal skills that enhance business development
• Coaching and mentoring skills to promote high performance and take appropriate action with poor performance
• Solid computer skills – particularly Excel spreadsheets and MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook or other management tools, such as Maximo
• Financial management – experience of budget setting and monitoring, reporting on variances and identifying ways to reduce expenditure without sacrificing quality
• Experience  of delivering technical training
• A proven track record working as a manager
• Experience as a supervisor of a training establishment within the transport industry – ideally buses
• A proven track record of working as a manager
Qualifications:
• A Teacher training, or C&G PTLS/CLTS Qualification
• NVQ level 3 or equivalent
